A via ferrata is a traversing route along rock or very steep terrain. Via ferrata courses have been around since the early 19th century and originated in Italy. The term “via ferrata” roughly translates to “Iron Way”. Today’s via ferrata courses include steel cabling and rungs drilled into the rock which allow you to traverse along the beautiful mountainside with no experience necessary. To put it into more simple terms, this is basically an awesome mix of rock climbing and hiking. Not to mention, every course has beautiful surroundings and scenery nearby.

Via ferrata courses are located all over the world and each course has something amazing to offer you and your group. If you’re in Colorado and looking for some excitement, the abundance of via ferrata courses we have to offer here is for sure the way to go. The answer is definitely not! These Colorado via ferrata courses require no previous experience and are an awesome option for people looking to venture out and have a blast. Where to find a via ferrata course in Colorado

The beautiful state of Colorado has many options to choose from when it comes to via ferrata courses. I’ve put together a short list of the best via ferratas you can find in Colorado! My number one favorite would be the Mount Evans Via Ferrata course, located in Idaho Springs. This course allows you to trek along one of Colorado’s most popular fourteeners (mounts that reach over 14,000 feet). There’s also an awesome freefall and rappelling section you get to go through. My next personal favorite would have to be the Granite Via Ferrata which is located in Buena Vista. This course has astonishing views and is at the base of the Collegiate Peaks. Last, but certainly not least, the via ferrata located in Estes Park. Not only is it an awesome climbing experience, but it also offers breathtaking views of Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, and the gorgeous valley below.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for an exciting way to see some of the prettiest views throughout Colorado, via ferrata is for sure the way to go. Not only are there quite a few via ferrata courses in Colorado you can choose from, but they’re also all priced relatively decently too! Be sure to take a look into booking a via ferrata course the next time you’re in Colorado, I promise you won’t regret it.
