Via Ferrata in Colorado

Wanting to do more than just one activity in a day? At both the Buena Vista and the Idaho Springs locations, you can pack two exhilarating activities in one day.

Idaho Springs

Our Idaho Springs outpost is located next to Clear Creek which provides Class III-V rapids and three different Via Ferrata + Rafting packages. The rafting trips in Idaho Springs range from family-friendly rapids to thrilling and extreme whitewater. To add on to the excitement of rafting, this outpost is also home to the Mount Evans Via Ferrata, which boasts beautiful views of Idaho Springs and Chicago Creek from 300 feet above ground.

Colorado Via Ferrata

Gold Rush + Via Ferrata (Class III)

The Gold Rush stretch of Clear Creek is equipped with eleven class III rapids, which is great for first time rafters.  Pump up the challenge a bit by hopping on the Via Ferrata in the same day.

Upper Clear Creek + Via Ferrata (Class IV)

This more intense section of river bumps through 8 miles of class IV action, including the rapids Nomad and Phoenix Holes.  After a break for lunch in Idaho Springs, head up to conquer the Mount Evans Via Ferrata.

Lower Canyon + Via Ferrata (Class V)

You’ll find yourself paddling hard on this Class V stretch of whitewater in Idaho Springs.  After ripping through Upper Beaver Falls, Lower Beaver Falls and the Nixon Rapids, finish off your day climbing high and taking in the views.

Buena Vista

The Buena Vista outpost truly provides a mountain emersion experience. From the top of the Granite Via Ferrata, participants can enjoy views of the beautiful Collegiate Peaks and the Arkansas River Valley while challenging themselves to a heart pounding course. The Arkansas River provides diverse rapids while also being very scenic, and you can combine these two activities for an action-backed day in the Colorado Rockies.

Colorado Via Ferrata

Browns Canyon + Via Ferrata (Class III)

Raft the most popular section of river in the country.  Sitting between 14,000 feet peaks, this section of the Arkansas River was named a National Monument by former President Obama in 2015.  After rafting these mild yet splashy rapids, you can add a delicious lunch at the outpost to your trip before you venture high up on the Via Ferrata.

Numbers + Via Ferrata (Class IV)

Ready for a more challenging section of rafting as well as a mountaintop experience? On this adventure you’ll be continuously paddling through 9 miles of Class IV rapids. This section of river yields views of the snow-capped Collegiate Peaks and beautiful landscape of the Arkansas River Valley.  After you catch your breath from the Numbers, gear up and tackle the Granite Via Ferrata.

All of AVA’s outpost provide adventure, great rapids and amazing views. Whether you are an experienced rafter who’s done it all and wants to add something more to your trip, or a novice rafter who just wants to test their nerves with heights, there is something for everyone on these exhilarating Rafting + Via Ferrata combo trips.
